At DCA, women are at the heart of our work and across all sectors, and we are proud of all the achievements women make every day. We are happy to share a few examples from our current projects on how DCA Syria is including women:
Early recovery and livelihoods: DCA has provided vocational training for women designed based on an in-depth study on employment opportunities for women. This study ensured that the training directly addressed the market needs, equipping women with the right skills to enter the workforce and achieve economic independence.
The training goes beyond traditional skills and includes courses on AI, data management, and mobile phone maintenance. This was further enhanced by training in Microsoft tools, business management, and financial literacy, ensuring they are prepared to launch and sustain their careers or businesses.

Protection program: DCA provides psychosocial support (PSS) sessions for women, adapting the Women Rise curriculum, which helps women navigate emotions, stress, grief, and anger. These activities are relevant to the women in Syria who went through extremely harsh situations and emerged braver and stronger.
Shelter program: Women worked alongside men in reconstruction of building spaces that serve their communities in informal settlements.

Mine Action (HMA): women lead teams of deminers challenging gender norms and debunking the myth that women are not suitable for some jobs. Along with her mixed gendered team, they prove they can take on even the most dangerous jobs.

At DCA, women also lead activities and teams across programs and have great contributions to the work we do.
Despite the hardships and daily contextual challenges, women show up whether to conduct activities or to their jobs, not letting anything stand in their way.
On March 8, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women everywhere.
For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.
